Pantry Makeup: Oatmeal Face Mask

This week is going to be pure fun. This week is all about finding things in your pantry to use as beauty products. *gasp* Yes, it is possible and quite rewarding if I may say so myself. What could be more rewarding than licking off your own facial mask? So without further ado, here's the scoop.

We found this recipe on Food Plus Words and made a few adjustments to the mixture. First instead of steel cut oatmeal we used rolled oatmeal (that's what you see sticking to my face in clumps). Instead of juice from one orange we used juice from one lemon (I adore lemons). We used dried lemon peel instead of dried orange peel. Everything else was the same.

As we were making the mixture we noticed that it was very wet and slimy. We added about 1/4 cup oatmeal to the madness in hopes that it would thicken up.

We were kinda like "eh" when we tried it the first time. It was really messy. The mixture was super slimy and was hard to keep on our faces (it would slurp right off). It was everywhere but our faces.

I decided that I would keep the remaining mixture in the fridge and try again tomorrow. Personally I think using it the day after you make is so much better. The mixture had time to marry together and was much easier to put on your face. It was refreshingly cool when I put it on my face and when I rinsed it off my face felt super soft and smelled delicious.

In conclusion, I would definitely make this mask again but instead of using it right away I would make it a day before and let it hang out in the fridge and chill.

*Be sure to try a small portion on your hand before you use it on your face to make sure you aren't allegoric to anything in the recipe.

So if your lemons are from the hands of God does that mean your facial mask made your face as soft as a Goddess?! LOVELY! :)
